Future of Farmed Salmon: Supply Issues
Session #
Date/Venue Monday, 03/15/2010 3:00PM - 4:00PM , Room 153BC
Description Description:

The increased farmed salmon supply to the United States over the past decade has made it a menu mainstay and permanent fixture in retail display cases nationwide. However, supply interruptions due to infectious salmon anemia problems in Chile have recently put pressure on supply and prices. And now there is an uptick in farmed salmon from Norway, as well as potential for expansion by U.S. salmon farms that could also change the supply dynamics. Panelists will discuss these supply and demand trends, and will also tackle sustainability issues and other challenges facing the farmed salmon industry.
